April’s cheapest home sale was £17,500 terrace in Burnley

The cheapest residential property sold in April was a terraced house in Burnley, Lancashire for just £17,500, according to the Land Registry.

The cheapest commercial property sold was for a mere £425 the same month and was in Bolton.

Unsurprisingly the most expensive home sold was in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.The detached house changed hands for £19.8 million.

The figures also revealed that there were a total of 78,408 sales received for registration in April 2018.

Of this number 57,657 were freehold, a 5 per cent increase on April 2017 and there was a substantial increase in the number of newly built homes, up 28 per cent year on year at 11,758.

Across England and Wales there were 363 sales for £1 million and over, of which 213 were in London, two were in Birmingham and two were in greater Manchester.

The latest aggregated house price index from the Land Registry showed average prices were £224,144 in March, up 4.2 per cent on the same month in 2017.
