Hampden appoints Hillyer as intermediary relationship director

UK private bank Hampden & Co has appointed Martin Hillyer as intermediary relationship director.

Hillyer will mainly focus on developing and fostering relationships with mortgage intermediaries to help tailor borrowing solutions to meet the needs of clients.

He will report to head of professional partnerships Hannah Berridge.

Hillyer joins Hampden & Co from Weatherbys Private Bank where he was senior business development executive managing relationships with introducers and intermediaries.

He has also held senior roles at Barclays including head of key clients – wealth business development.

Hampden & Co has continued to build its banking and senior management teams throughout 2023.

In November, Mark Plummer and Claire Mann joined as head of private London and first head of client propositions respectively.

Commenting on his appointment, Martin Hillyer said: “Intermediaries really value working with partners who can serve their clients well and that is where Hampden & Co excels. I very much look forward to enhancing the bank’s intermediary relationships.”

Hampden & Co head of professional partnerships Hannah Berridge said: “We are delighted to welcome Martin to the Hampden & Co team. He has extensive knowledge of intermediation in the private banking and wealth market and his proven ability to develop and deepen professional relationships will be key to our continued success.”

The bank said it has seen strong demand from mortgage brokers and from other professional intermediaries such as wealth managers, financial advisers, accountants, and solicitors.

Hampden & Co reported, in its first half year 2023 results in August, that client numbers were up eight per cent to more than 5,000, with a strong rise in introductions from intermediaries.
