House prices up 4.7 per cent in Scotland: Your Move

Scottish house prices continued to grow in July, for the sixth consecutive month, figures from Your Move have found.

The average house price in Scotland was £175,877 in July, up 0.1 per cent from June and 4.7 per cent on the same month last year.

Your Move managing director Christine Campbell says house price growth is particularly evident in Edinburgh and Glasgow and home movers are struggling to find properties to relocate to.

“This is fuelled, in part, by the ongoing strong demand for properties but also the lack of stock available,” says Campbell.

“Many potential sellers want to make a move but, unable to find a property to move to, are taking a ‘wait and see’ approach and this, in turn, is creating a gridlock which is affecting the movement of properties across most price bands.”
